"[Styles of the past] look good and help [people] reconnect with a past which was not as complicated as the world today". Although it is but one aspect of clothing in general, reviving trends from the past helps people to recall good memories as well as to forget times that might not have been so great. Classic favorites such as the little black dress or simple skirts flatter every generation. However, trends can also help people to connect to the future in their own country as well as on a global spectrum. "Cutting-edge fashion from Japanese and french designers is often in the forefront of somewhat, unisex, unique pieces." Metallurgic wear or clothing with asymmetrical or blunt features blatantly coincides with the increasingly modern world chock full of new technology often involving new appliances, vehicles, or computer related items. Select trends from the past are still present and new, often odd fashions, help to connect with the future. It remains a choice of an individual whether to remain in the past where it can feel comfortable or whether to be on the cutting edge and keep pace with the modern world. These are not the only choices that one may adorn themselves with. Fashion is appealing for those reasons but it leaves that room for expression whether to follow past /classic, present, or future trends. One never looks bad if he or she elects to wear a classic piece, but by following present and future style trends, in a sense, help to improve what others might think of a person such as whether or not the person might be innovative, creative, or just plain average. One can dress in accordance of how they might want others to view them such as whether one wants to be viewed as a professional or not. The choice of style marks a significant stance in life as to whether or not one may be trying to compete also.
